Pure Movement Dance Company, Illusion Dance &
Nebraska Contemporary Dance Theater.
What are they?
Our student companies are designed to give students additional performance experiences beyond the annual studio recital in May, one of these being our annual winter ballet. In order to better serve the needs of our students we have four different types of companies:
The Pure Movement Dance Company
PMDI Company is designed to provide an expanded dance experience through performance at the annual January company Ballet as well as additional dances during recital on top of their regular class performances. This company is designed to support students who want more dance without the commitment of outside performances and travel. Company members are required to take both Jazz and Ballet classes during the summer. For the regular dance session, PMDI Company members must attend two weekly ballet class (if applicable) and one jazz class in addition to their weekly Saturday rehearsal. Saturday rehearsals are from 11:15 am-1:15 pm throughout the entire 2019-2020 season.
All PMDI Company parts will be determined by an audition. Every student who auditions will be involved in the company. In order to participate students must be 9-18 years old. This year's PMDI Company audition was June 15th, 2019. Please contact us if you were unable to audition but are still interested in joining.
Junior Elite Pure Movement Dance Company
Junior Elite is an introduction to our student companies for our younger dancers. Being a member of Junior Elite will allow your student to have a better idea of the company experience without overwhelming them. The Junior Elite Company is for students who will be 7 or 8 years of age entering the 2019 school year. Members must attend the appropriate ballet and jazz classes for the regular dance session. Junior Elite weekly rehearsal is at the PMDI studio on Saturdays from 11:15 am-12:15 pm, August through May.
Opportunities:
Junior Elite members get to perform:
- Multiple numbers in the annual winter ballet.
- A group number in recital.
- Part of the production piece in finale.
Why should my student participate?
Junior Elite is a wonderful way to get your dancer more stage time, advanced training, and is also a fun way to spend time with friends. It is the perfect stepping stone to a more specialized dance experience.
PMDI and Junior Elite Company Membership Requirements:
- Attend their respective company audition on June 15th, 2019. (Please contact us if you are unable to make the audition but are interested in joining us).
- Participate in our 5-week summer ballet and jazz technique classes.
- Be enrolled in the proper weekly ballet and jazz technique classes during the 2019-2020 dance session.
